A 20-member delegation, led by Dr. Gohar Ejaz, Federal Minister for Commerce & Industries, is heading to China to explore new markets. Dr. Ejaz shared this in a video message on X, formerly Twitter. In the message, he emphasized the need to address the trade gap between Pakistan and China. Pakistan imports goods worth $20 billion from China, exporting only $2 billion. The delegation aims to tap into new markets and opportunities in China.

Over the past three months, strategic exercises aimed to boost Pakistan’s exports from $30 billion to a target of $100 billion. Dr. Ejaz sees China as having the most potential, and the delegation will play a key role.

Dr. Ejaz underscores Pakistan’s capacity and potential, identifying China as crucial in reducing the trade deficit. Export-led growth is the primary goal, actively addressing challenges such as the current account deficit.

Expressing gratitude to key figures, Dr. Ejaz acknowledges support from the Chinese Ambassador in Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, the Pakistan Ambassador in China, Khalil Hashmi, and China’s Ministry of Commerce.

The decision to explore Chinese markets followed meetings with the Industry Advisory Council and Export Advisory Council (EAC). The visit marks the beginning of Pakistan’s journey towards a $100 billion export target.

In a recent text on X, Dr. Ejaz highlights the visit’s significance, marking a pivotal moment in Pakistan’s export-led growth efforts. The Export Advisory Council (EAC) outlined plans to elevate domestic exports to $50 billion in the next five years. This proactive approach aligns with the broader strategy of achieving export targets and fostering economic growth.
