Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Zardari engaged in a humorous exchange with Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani at the wedding of Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s son in Islamabad. The former president playfully teased Sanjrani about his alleged support from ex-ISI chief Faiz Hamid.

Seated at the same table during the marriage ceremony, Zardari quizzed Sanjrani on his plans now that Faiz Hamid had retired. The banter continued as Sanjrani hinted at seeking support, to which Zardari responded tauntingly, advising him to consider the dynamics of politics.

Zardari emphasized the transient nature of political alliances, stating, “Their reign does not last forever, but ours does.” The light-hearted conversation added a unique touch to the event attended by prominent national politicians, including Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar and National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf.

The wedding ceremony witnessed the Nikkah of Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s son, Maulana Asjad Mahmood, solemnized by Sahibzada Khalil. Reflecting on Sadiq Sanjrani’s political history, the no-trust motion against him in August 2019 was brought up, where he secured an unexpected victory amid allegations of Faiz Hamid’s involvement.
