Caretaker CM Naqvi Tackles Smog and Unveils Hospital Upgrades

Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi addressed the pressing issue of smog, stating that the government is exerting maximum efforts to control it. However, he emphasized the necessity for more research to understand the root causes of smog.

During a media interaction on Friday, CM Naqvi highlighted the need for artificial rain but mentioned the current absence of necessary clouds. He expressed the government’s commitment to respecting court decisions and acknowledged traffic issues on Walton Road in Lahore, revealing plans to connect Walton Road to the Main Boulevard. The CM also provided updates on the swift progress of Central Business District (CBD) projects.

Naqvi announced the imminent commencement of development work on the Garden Town Square. In a separate event, he visited King Edward Medical University (KEMU) and inaugurated the five-day 13th International Scientific Conference.

Accompanied by Punjab Health Minister Dr Javed Akram, the CM named the Surgical Tower after Dr Faisal Masood. During the conference, Naqvi explored stalls showcasing medical equipment and gadgets, including laparoscopy stimulators, surgical instruments, and home dialysis machines developed by the university and other manufacturers.

Graduates of KEMU were honored with shields, and Naqvi assured the completion of hospital upgrades across the province by January 31. He highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance services in major Punjab hospitals, covering an extensive area of 600,000 square feet. The CM stressed the importance of upgrading medical student and nurse hostels, expressing the government’s duty to fulfill these responsibilities.

Naqvi reassured that hospital upgradation in affiliation with KEMU is progressing rapidly and is expected to be completed within a couple of months.
