In a startling revelation, it has come to light that Malik Amjad Zubair Tiwana, Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), has neglected to submit his Performance Evaluation Report (PER) and asset declarations for the years 2021 through 2023. Documents obtained by Pay Tax, indicate a significant lapse in compliance on the part of the esteemed head of Pakistan’s revenue collection authority.

The failure to disclose such crucial information raises serious questions about transparency and accountability within the highest echelons of the FBR. These documents, which are essential for assessing an official’s performance and financial integrity, are conspicuously absent from Tiwana’s record.

This revelation not only casts a shadow over Tiwana’s tenure but also undermines public trust in the FBR’s ability to enforce tax laws impartially. The Chairman’s apparent non-compliance with mandatory reporting requirements may suggest a lack of adherence to ethical standards and regulatory protocols expected of someone in his position.

Furthermore, the absence of these critical documents hampers efforts to evaluate Tiwana’s stewardship of the FBR and raises concerns about potential conflicts of interest or undisclosed financial assets.

As calls for accountability grow louder, it remains to be seen how the FBR and relevant authorities will address this alarming oversight and restore confidence in the integrity of Pakistan’s tax administration system.
