Denial of Alleged Poisoning of Imran Khan in Prison by PTI Chairman’s Lawyer

The lawyer representing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, Shiraz Ahmad Ranjha, dismissed as false the reports suggesting Imran Khan’s poisoning while in prison.

Ranjha outright denied all such allegations, branding them as unfounded.

Ranjha explicitly stated that there is no truth to the assertions regarding the poisoning of the PTI chairman or any imminent threat of poisoning.

Addressing an incident from the previous day, the lawyer explained that there had been a misunderstanding. He clarified that due to two prior attempts on Imran’s life, there is heightened concern for his safety, particularly concerning potential exposure to slow-acting poison.

Imran is presently held at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail. He was previously confined at Attock Jail subsequent to his conviction in the gifts repository case on August 5.

The former Prime Minister was arrested on May 9 from inside the high court in Islamabad by the National Accountability Bureau on charges of corruption linked to the Al-Qadir Trust, of which he is the owner.

Having been detained at Attock District Jail, he was recently transferred to Adiala Jail. Imran contends that he has been imprisoned on fabricated charges, asserting his determination to clear his name from all accusations.
