Fawad Chaudhry Sent on Two-Day Remand Following Arrest Amid Bribery Allegations

A local court in Islamabad has placed Fawad Chaudhry on a two-day physical remand

A local court in Islamabad has placed Fawad Chaudhry on a two-day physical remand following his arrest. Chaudhry was escorted to court in an armored vehicle with a black cloth covering his head, accompanied by his brothers and wife. The scene drew strong protest from his brother, acting as his lawyer, due to the covering.

Despite the prosecution’s request for a five-day remand, the judge sanctioned a two-day remand only. During the court proceedings, details from Chaudhry’s First Information Report (FIR) were disclosed, citing allegations of accepting a Rs500,000 bribe and guaranteeing a job to the complainant, Muhammad Zaheer.

Zaheer further accused Chaudhry of threatening him with dire consequences upon requesting the return of the money. Chaudhry, however, expressed concerns about the complainant’s inability to attend court and highlighted his own need for medical attention due to a lung condition.

Meanwhile, in a statement issued on Saturday, Hiba Chaudhry confirmed her husband’s arrest and his undisclosed location. Chaudhry’s arrest comes in the wake of PTI leader Asad Qaiser’s arrest from Banigala.
