Pakistan’s FBR Advances Digital Tax System with McKinsey & Company Partnership

In a significant development at the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Headquarters, a high-level meeting convened subsequent to McKinsey & Company’s contract signing for the Digitalization of the Tax System. Present at the meeting were officials from the Ministry of Finance, FBR, Karandaaz, and McKinsey & Company. The initiative underscores a crucial stride towards modernizing tax collection methods, aimed at boosting transparency and fostering revenue growth.

During the session, Federal Minister for Finance & Revenue, Mr. Muhammad Aurangzeb, reiterated the Government’s commitment to digital transformation as a cornerstone for fostering sustained economic growth. He emphasized the collaboration’s potential to enhance tax collection, aligning with the government’s vision for economic progress in Pakistan.

FBR Chairman, Mr. Malik Amjed Zubair Tiwana, underscored FBR’s dedication to augmenting revenue collection through technological advancements. He emphasized the project’s significance in realizing FBR’s objectives of transparency and efficiency, ultimately benefitting the citizens of Pakistan.

CEO of Karandaaz Pakistan, Waqas ul Hasan, expressed optimism regarding the collaboration’s impact on FBR’s digital strategy. He highlighted the expertise brought by the contracted firm, envisioning its contribution to the broader vision of the Pakistan Digital Stack initiative. Hasan also extended gratitude to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for their pivotal financial support towards this crucial project.
