Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Murtaza Solangi, has reasserted that the general elections in the country are scheduled to take place on February 8, 2024. This announcement was made during a media interaction in Islamabad, as reported by state-run Radio Pakistan.

Solangi dismissed any speculations about a potential delay in the polls, emphasizing that there are no administrative or financial obstacles hindering the timely conduct of elections. The interim minister highlighted the caretaker government’s commitment to maintaining positive relations with all political parties to foster a conducive environment for the upcoming elections.

Expressing full confidence in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to fulfill its legal and constitutional duties, Solangi underscored the importance of a smooth electoral process.

In response to a query, the information minister conveyed the government’s efforts to address the concerns of the Baloch people. He mentioned the release of all women and children from the Baloch protest sit-in in the federal capital, with the assurance that the remaining individuals would also be released following legal procedures.

Earlier, at the graduating ceremony of a civil servants training program at the Information Services Academy, Solangi encouraged civil servants to dedicate themselves to their professional responsibilities. He acknowledged the challenges of disseminating accurate information in the evolving media landscape.
