Federal cabinet has suggested placing the names of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and 28 others on the Exit Control List (ECL) related to the Al-Qadir Trust case. The Ministry of Interior made this announcement following a meeting today, attended by caretaker interim Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti and officials from various departments.

According to the ministry’s statement, the courts have requested the removal of seven names from the ECL. The subcommittee recommended the removal of three names after reviewing appeals submitted for revision.

The ongoing investigation by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) focuses on the Al-Qadir Trust case, accusing Imran Khan and others of misusing authority as public office holders in the illegal transfer of £190 million for personal gains.

In a separate incident in May, Imran Khan, the chief of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), faced arrest by a heavy contingent of Rangers on the premises of the Islamabad High Court. This arrest took place as he sought bail in multiple FIRs registered against him. Subsequently, the Islamabad High Court declared Imran’s arrest on its premises as “legal.”
