Finance Minister Affirms Government’s Dedication to IMF Reform Agenda

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb reiterated the government’s dedication to collaborating with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to pursue reforms aimed at fostering economic growth and stability, as announced by the Finance Ministry .

The IMF delegation convened with the finance minister on Thursday, preceding formal deliberations on the Stand-by Arrangement (SBA). Their visit to Pakistan entails conducting the second review of the SBA.

During the meeting, the finance minister extended a warm welcome to the IMF delegation and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to partnering with the IMF to advance Pakistan’s economic growth and stability agenda.

Nathan Porter, the head of the IMF mission, conveyed congratulations to the finance minister on his appointment and engaged in discussions concerning various macroeconomic indicators, the government’s initiatives for fiscal consolidation, structural reforms, the sustainability of the energy sector, and the governance of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs).

In response, the finance minister expressed gratitude to the IMF for its ongoing support and expressed optimism for fruitful discussions during the second review.
