Finance Minister Convenes ECC Meeting

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has called for a session of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet, addressing 18 agenda items today (Tuesday).

Under the minister’s leadership, the ECC will deliberate on Defence Production’s request for a technical supplementary grant of Rs200 million and TSG of Rs5,898.287 million for the Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority.

Additionally, the committee will consider the Finance Division’s proposal for rupee cover concerning the World Bank Funded Financial Inclusion and Infrastructure Project (FIIP) through TSG. Furthermore, there will be discussions on granting a special relief package for daily wage workers at the Chaman Border.

Other crucial matters on the agenda include additional funds for the repair and maintenance of public buildings in Islamabad, urea fertilizer requirements for Kharif 2024, and salary disbursement for PSM employees from January 2024 to June 2024.

The ECC will also review proposals from the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication and the Ministry of Interior regarding advisory committee composition and approval of TSG for various projects.

Moreover, the meeting will address the release of maintenance funds for deployment in UN missions, an increase in wheat procurement targets for PASSCO, and the National Accountability Bureau’s proposal for fund recoupment.

This ECC gathering underscores the government’s commitment to effective policy-making and resource management for the betterment of Pakistan’s economic landscape.
