Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb Meets with Huawei CEO

Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb met with Huawei Pakistan’s Chief Executive Officer Mr. Sun Xiaofei and his senior management team at the Finance Division today. The meeting focused on Huawei’s contributions to Pakistan’s ICT industry and potential areas for future collaboration.

Mr. Xiaofei provided an overview of Huawei’s digital and ICT initiatives in Pakistan, highlighting the company’s significant contributions over the past 25 years. He emphasized Pakistan’s potential to become an IT hub and detailed Huawei’s Pakistan Global Service Centre (GSC), which provides services to partners in the Middle East, Central Asia, and Africa. The delegation proposed collaboration in tax digitalization, e-invoicing, revenue automation, and IT applications to enhance Pakistan’s digital ecosystem and promote sustainable economic growth.

Senator Aurangzeb expressed appreciation for Huawei’s proposals and acknowledged the company’s role in advancing Pakistan’s digital economy. He informed the delegation about the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) progress in digitizing the tax system and emphasized the potential for quick wins through the utilization of available data. The Finance Minister welcomed Huawei’s interest in collaborating with the government to promote the digital economy in Pakistan.

The CEO of Huawei extended an invitation to the Finance Minister to visit Huawei’s headquarters in Shenzhen to participate in discussions with Huawei’s executive leaders on finance and digital economy cooperation.
