IMF Delegation Engages in Talks with Pakistan’s Finance Ministry

On Thursday, a contingent from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) arrived at the Ministry of Finance to engage in discussions with Pakistan’s economic representatives.

The IMF delegation’s primary agenda involves addressing technical matters in collaboration with the Pakistani team to facilitate the disbursement of a $710 million tranche.

Sources reveal that the mission aims to deliver a report assessing the country’s adherence to the prescribed targets by global donors.

The delegation will meticulously analyze the report, emphasizing the Standby Arrangement loan program’s implications.

Caretaker Finance Minister Shamshad Akhtar will lead the Pakistani negotiation team.

Notably, the IMF mission plans to stay in Pakistan for a 15-day period. The first ten days are allocated for in-depth deliberations on program intricacies, while the remaining five days will be devoted to discussions on policy matters.
