Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Imam Syed Ali Khamenei, has reaffirmed the country’s commitment to strengthening ties with Pakistan, following the tragic demise of President Ebrahim Raisi and other high-ranking officials in a helicopter crash.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shahbaz Sharif, who visited Tehran to offer condolences, Khamenei emphasized the importance of bilateral cooperation and agreements signed between the two nations.

Khamenei’s remarks came as a significant gesture of goodwill, considering the recent fluctuations in Iran-Pakistan relations. Despite “ups and downs” in the past, the Supreme Leader expressed optimism about a resurgence in bilateral cooperation under Pakistan’s new government. He acknowledged the late President Raisi’s efforts to deepen cooperation and signing of agreements during his visit to Pakistan last month.

Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that friendly relations between brotherly countries are not always easy, but with determination and serious efforts, cooperation can flourish. He expressed gratitude to the government and nation of Pakistan for their sympathy and support during the difficult time.

Acting President Dr. Mokhber is expected to follow the path of cooperation and agreements, building on the momentum created by President Raisi’s visit. This development is significant, given the recent missile strikes and tensions between the two nations.

The meeting between Khamenei and Shahbaz Sharif demonstrated a renewed commitment to bilateral cooperation, paving the way for enhanced economic, political, and strategic ties between Iran and Pakistan.
