Security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Dera Ismail Khan and North Waziristan districts, a total of eleven terrorists were neutralized, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Monday.

The ISPR press release revealed that the operations, carried out last night, targeted areas where terrorists were reportedly present. An intelligence-based operation in Dera Ismail Khan district resulted in the successful neutralization of ten terrorists after an intense exchange of fire.

“In another encounter in North Waziristan district, our troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location, leading to the elimination of one more terrorist,” the ISPR statement confirmed.

The militants targeted in these operations were actively involved in various terrorist activities against both security forces and civilians in the region. Additionally, arms and ammunition were recovered from their possession.

Local residents expressed appreciation for the swift and decisive actions taken by security forces to combat terrorism in their areas. The ISPR reiterated the commitment of security forces to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the country.

These operations come in the wake of increased terrorist activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, following the cessation of the ceasefire between the government and the banned militant group Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan in November 2022.

According to a security report issued by the Centre for Research and Security Studies, Pakistan witnessed a surge in violence-related fatalities and injuries in 2023, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan being the primary centers of violence. The report highlighted the significance of ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in maintaining security and stability in the region.
