Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General (DG) Major General Ahmed Sharif highlighted the ongoing threat of terrorism posed by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) during a press conference on Tuesday.

Addressing tensions with Afghanistan, the DG ISPR emphasized the challenges posed by terrorist attacks originating from Afghan soil and the significant loss of Pakistani lives, including soldiers, workers, and law enforcement personnel.

Despite Pakistan’s efforts for regional peace, including in Afghanistan, the TTP continues to perpetrate acts of terrorism within Pakistan, despite diplomatic engagements with the Afghan interim government.

Concrete evidence suggests that terrorist plots, such as the attack on Chinese engineers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, originate from Afghanistan, indicating the continued use of Afghan soil by TTP terrorists.

The ISPR DG reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to eradicating terror networks and ensuring the safety of its citizens, emphasizing the need to suppress terrorists and their supporters.

Regarding the repatriation of illegal Afghan citizens, the DG ISPR highlighted the government’s decision for the country’s benefit, noting the return of a significant number of individuals while acknowledging the remaining challenges.

Reflecting on recent events, including the May 9 incident, the ISPR DG emphasized the need for accountability and suggested the formation of a judicial commission to investigate and prosecute perpetrators according to the law.

Regarding potential dialogue with political leaders, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan, the DG ISPR asserted that dialogue with groups engaging in anti-state activities is not feasible, emphasizing the importance of sincere apologies and constructive engagement for progress.
