The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, another prominent leader, Junaid Akbar, has announced his resignation from the party’s core committee. This follows the recent resignation of PTI’s top leader Omar Ayub Khan, who stepped down from his position as Secretary General.

On Thursday, Junaid Akbar, a Member of the National Assembly (MNA), tendered his resignation, expressing his dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership. In an official statement, Akbar criticized the PTI leadership, emphasizing that he is not aligned with any faction within the party and has no intentions of being part of any group.

Akbar’s resignation letter highlighted his frustration with certain individuals within the party who he believes are prioritizing their personal interests over the party’s collective goals. Without naming anyone, he accused these individuals of exploiting the party for their gain and lamented his lack of involvement in the decision-making process. “I have no authority in decision-making and no access to PTI founder Imran Khan,” he stated. “These individuals meet Imran Khan, and they don’t let us meet him,” he added, indicating a significant disconnect between the leadership and some of its members.

Akbar further expressed that he is merely informed about the party’s policies and decisions without having his concerns addressed by the leadership. This lack of communication and involvement has evidently led to his decision to resign. Despite his departure from the core committee, Akbar announced his intention to initiate a movement for accountability within the party, working alongside dedicated party workers to ensure transparency and integrity in PTI’s operations.

Junaid Akbar’s resignation adds to the growing list of PTI leaders stepping down from their positions, signaling potential unrest and dissatisfaction within the party ranks. Just a day before Akbar’s resignation, Omar Ayub Khan, the Secretary General of PTI, also resigned from his party positions. Ayub’s resignation was a significant blow to the party, given his prominent role and influence within PTI.

This series of resignations raises questions about the internal dynamics and leadership strategies of PTI. The party, which has been a significant force in Pakistan’s political landscape, now faces challenges that could impact its stability and effectiveness. The resignations of key leaders like Junaid Akbar and Omar Ayub Khan suggest a need for introspection and potential restructuring within PTI to address the concerns of its members and maintain cohesion.
