Lahore police have arrested the mastermind behind the honey trap gang involved in the high-profile kidnapping case of renowned Pakistani drama writer Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar. The arrest was made in Peshawar, bringing the central figure of the gang, Hassan Shah, into custody alongside his accomplice, Rafique.
According to the Lahore police, Hassan Shah was the key orchestrator of the gang, which included 12 members, some of whom were women. This gang has been linked to several criminal activities, including the recent kidnapping and robbery of Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar. Khalil ur Rehman Qamar, known for his impactful dramas, alleged that he was lured into the trap by a woman named Amna, who invited him to her house under the pretext of discussing a potential drama project. Once Qamar arrived at the specified location, he was ambushed by armed men who kidnapped him. The gang demanded a substantial ransom for his release.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the suspects robbed Qamar of his mobile phone, watch, cash, and forcibly transferred Rs 250,000 from his ATM card. Qamar added that the kidnappers blindfolded him and abandoned him in a deserted area before fleeing. This harrowing experience not only highlighted the danger posed by such criminal gangs but also raised concerns about the safety of public figures in the country.
