Pakistan Army Contributes Rs100bn in Taxes During 2022-23

Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Maj-Gen Ahmed Sharif, announced on Tuesday that the Pakistan army has made significant tax contributions amounting to Rs100 billion during the 2022-23 period.

Highlighting the broader tax landscape, Maj-Gen Sharif noted that various institutions operating under the military’s umbrella have collectively contributed Rs260 billion to the country’s tax revenue. Notably, the Fauji Foundation, a prominent entity associated with the armed forces, made substantial tax deposits totaling Rs223 billion during the same timeframe.

Maj-Gen Sharif disclosed that the Defence Housing Authority (DHA), a key player in Pakistan’s real estate sector, has also played a significant role in government tax revenue. The DHA contributed Rs25 billion in taxes, further emphasizing the substantial economic impact of military-related entities and their commitment to bolstering the country’s fiscal health.
