Intelligence Based Operation (IBO) conducted in Tank District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, security forces successfully eliminated two terrorists, including the highly sought-after Gul Yousaf, on the night of January 4-5, 2024. The operation, prompted by intelligence reports of terrorist presence, witnessed an intense exchange of fire leading to the demise of the terrorists.

Gul Yousaf, alias Toor, had a notorious history of involvement in multiple terrorist activities against security forces. This included high-profile attacks in Tank and DI Khan districts, as well as engaging in extortion and target killing of innocent civilians. He was a high-value target, with law enforcement agencies offering a reward of Rs2.5 million for his capture.

The Inter Services Public Relations Pakistan (ISPR) emphasized the local populace’s appreciation for the security forces’ efforts in maintaining peace and stability in the region. This successful operation reflects the commitment of the forces to counter terrorism and ensure the safety of the community.

Earlier in the week, another IBO in North Waziristan District resulted in the elimination of four terrorists. The collective efforts of security forces highlight the ongoing commitment to combating terrorism in various regions.

However, it’s crucial to note that 2023 witnessed the highest number of terrorist attacks in Pakistan since 2014, as reported by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS). The recent operations underscore the need for continued vigilance and proactive measures to curb terrorist activities in the country.
