In a recent development, the Peshawar High Court has taken a decisive stance against Malik Amjad Zubair Tiwana, the Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), freezing his salary due to his failure to respond to repeated reminders in connection with an ongoing tax case. This move comes as a stark indication of the judiciary’s firmness in ensuring compliance with legal obligations.

Despite numerous reminders, Tiwana reportedly neglected to furnish a reply pertinent to the pending tax case, prompting the court to take stringent action. The decision to freeze Tiwana’s salary underscores the court’s unwavering commitment to upholding accountability and due process.

Following the court’s directive, instructions have been promptly issued to enforce the order concerning the freezing of salaries within the FBR. Notably, the Accountant General of Pakistan has been tasked with executing the court’s order, signaling a coordinated effort to implement judicial rulings effectively.

Officials within the FBR have corroborated the implementation of the court’s decision, confirming that Chairman Tiwana’s salary has indeed been withheld as per the directive of the Peshawar High Court. This development serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of non-compliance with legal proceedings and underscores the judiciary’s role in ensuring accountability within governmental institutions.
