In a welcome move for passengers traveling to Saudi Arabia, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced a 30% reduction in fares. The discounted tickets will be available for passengers traveling from Pakistan to Riyadh, Dammam, and Qassim from June 10 to June 18.

According to the PIA spokesperson, this scheme aims to facilitate passengers traveling to Saudi Arabia. The reduced fares will provide relief to thousands of passengers who travel between the two countries for various reasons, including employment, business, and Umrah.

On the other hand, the privatization process of PIA has gained momentum. Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan chaired a meeting of the Privatization Commission Board, which pre-qualified six companies and consortia for the privatization of PIA. The minister emphasized the importance of transparent and swift privatization of all loss-making institutions, including PIA.

The privatization of PIA is a significant step towards revamping the airline’s operations and improving its financial health. The pre-qualified companies will now move to the next stage of the bidding process, which is expected to be completed soon.

The reduction in fares and the progress in privatization have been welcomed by passengers and stakeholders alike. The move is expected to increase passenger traffic and revenue for PIA, which has been facing financial challenges in recent years.
