The Press Information Department (PID) has submitted a request to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for the allocation of at least 10 tampered, cut, and welded confiscated vehicles at nominal token prices, citing essential needs for official duties.

As the principal projection and publicity organization of the federal government, PID plays a crucial role in catering to the publicity requirements of various government entities. This includes prime ministers, presidents, federal ministers, ministries, divisions, and attached departments. PID ensures the dissemination of government policies, organizes press conferences, and acts as a bridge between the public and the government.

The official request highlights the PID’s vital functions, involving media relations, facilitation, protocol for VVIPs, and the organization of events like press conferences and seminars. The department emphasizes the necessity of sufficient logistics, communication, and technical infrastructure to carry out these functions effectively.

Despite the urgency of needing at least 10 vehicles for official and operational duties, the federal government’s austerity measures prohibit the purchase of new vehicles for the PID. In response, the department seeks access to tampered, cut, and welded confiscated vehicles available with the Directorate General of I&I-Customs, Islamabad, under Section 182 of the Customs Act, 1969.

The PID’s request to the Directorate General/FBR aims to secure the allocation of these confiscated vehicles at a minimum token price, as determined by the Directorate General of I&I-Custom, Islamabad. The goal is to support the department’s operational needs while adhering to cost-effective measures.
