Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif extends support to the calamity-hit coastal town of Gwadar during his visit on Tuesday, unveiling an extensive relief package for the affected populace. The newly-elected premier pledges monetary compensation totaling Rs2 million for the families of the deceased, Rs0.5 million for the injured, and Rs0.75 million for households with damaged properties due to the torrential rainfall.

Emphasizing the government’s responsibility, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif ensures swift disbursal of the relief package within four days, affirming it as a duty rather than a favor. During his visit, he personally distributes cheques and relief goods, including food items, blankets, and water coolers, among the affected individuals.

Accompanied by Chief Minister Balochistan Sarfraz Bugti and other lawmakers, the Prime Minister receives a briefing from the chairman of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) regarding the extent of damage caused by the flash floods. He directs authorities to enhance the detection of natural calamities through modern technology and satellites, while also prioritizing the restoration of communication infrastructure and assessment of private property damages.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif underscores the importance of developing a comprehensive relief and rehabilitation plan for the flood victims, urging authorities to spare no effort in assisting the affected individuals. Notably, Gwadar was declared a ‘disaster zone’ by the Balochistan caretaker government last week in response to the devastating rainfall and ensuing flash floods.
