Prime Minister Appoints Rana Tanveer Hussain to Economic Coordination Committee

DAWN NEWS

The Prime Minister has named Federal Minister for Industries and Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain, as a member of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC). This move has expanded the ECC’s membership from 6 to 7. Sources have revealed that the Minister of Finance will retain his position as the chairperson of the ECC. Additionally, federal ministers responsible for commerce, power, and petroleum are among the ECC’s members. Furthermore, federal ministers handling economic affairs and planning have also been included in the ECC committee.

It’s worth noting that on March 22, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif established 7 cabinet committees, among which were the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) and the Cabinet Committee on Energy (CCoE).

A separate notification issued by the Cabinet Division declared that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would preside over the Economic Coordination Committee and the Cabinet Committee on Energy. However, the chairmanship of the Economic Coordination Committee was subsequently assigned to Finance Minister Mohammad Orangzeb the following day.

A senior cabinet member has verified this development, informing “Dawn” that the Prime Minister’s busy schedule and financial engagements prompted the decision to delegate the chairing of the Economic Coordination Committee to Finance Minister Mohammad Orangzeb.
