PSX Closes Slightly Lower, KSE-100 Index Sheds 83 Points

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) experienced a slight downturn. The 100-index, a key benchmark of the PSX, shed 83.29 points, marking a negative change of 0.11 percent. The index closed at 78,444.96 points, down from 78,528.25 points on the previous trading day.

The trading volume saw a significant increase with a total of 347,671,672 shares being traded, compared to 283,542,503 shares on the preceding day. This surge in trading volume indicates heightened investor activity. The value of these traded shares also rose to Rs 11.899 billion from Rs 11.067 billion, showing a healthy interest in the market despite the slight overall decline in the index.

The stock market witnessed transactions from 435 companies. Out of these, 189 companies recorded gains, indicating that nearly half of the companies saw their share prices rise. On the other hand, 170 companies sustained losses, while the share prices of 76 companies remained unchanged. This mixed performance reflects the varied sentiments among investors.
