Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced Thursday that secretary general Omar Ayub will be its candidate for prime minister. Asad Qaiser, former National Assembly speaker, confirmed Imran Khan’s nomination of Ayub and disclosed plans for a countrywide protest against alleged election rigging.

Qaiser, speaking after a meeting with Imran Khan at Adiala Jail, stated he was assigned to engage with all political parties.

Last week, Ayub urged winning candidates to remain loyal to Imran Khan, emphasizing discipline within the party ranks.

In another development, Imran Khan nominated PTI leader Ali Amin Gandapur for the chief minister position in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

On the other hand, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has named Shehbaz Sharif as its prime minister candidate, with party supremo Nawaz Sharif nominating his daughter Maryam Nawaz for the Punjab chief minister post.
