Former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaisar has vehemently criticized the recent rise in electricity tariffs and imposition of new taxes, labeling them as unjustifiable. As a central figure in the PTI, Qaisar has announced a series of public protests to voice opposition to these measures. The PTI will hold gatherings on July 5 in Mansehra and July 6 in Islamabad to rally against what they perceive as burdensome taxes and expensive electricity.

“We stand in solidarity with the people on this issue,” Qaisar stated. “The government must revoke these unlawful taxes imposed on the citizens.”

In addition to economic concerns, Asad Qaisar has also called for a robust mechanism to ensure transparent and equitable elections across the country.

Recently, Qaisar and JUI-F leader Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman convened to strategize against the fiscal year 2024-25 budget, expressing mutual disapproval. Both leaders criticized the budget as being influenced by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and detrimental to the welfare of the populace.

During their meeting, they highlighted the deteriorating law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and pledged joint opposition in the National Assembly against the budget’s implementation. They stressed the importance of fostering amicable relations with Afghanistan and discussed plans to establish economic corridors at border crossings.
