Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif Highlights Pakistan-Turkey Bilateral Cooperation in Meeting with Turkish Ambassador

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif underscored the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Turkey across various domains of mutual interest, including trade, defence, connectivity, and culture. He conveyed this during a meeting with Turkish Ambassador Dr. Mehmet Pacaci, who paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister in Islamabad.

Highlighting the exemplary bilateral relations between the two nations, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif emphasized their foundation on shared history, religion, and culture, describing them as steadfast. He stressed the necessity for concerted efforts from both countries to achieve the target of five billion dollars in annual bilateral trade.

Addressing significant matters, the Prime Minister expressed Pakistan’s deep appreciation for Turkey’s unwavering support for the oppressed people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He also reiterated Pakistan’s support for Turkey concerning the issue of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

In response, the Turkish Ambassador extended congratulations to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on his re-election and conveyed well wishes from the leadership of Turkey, emphasizing the importance of bolstering fraternal ties between the two nations.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed profound gratitude for the congratulatory telephone call and message of felicitations from President Recep Tayyip Erdogan following his re-election. Additionally, he extended congratulations to Turkey on the successful flight of the KAAN 5th generation fighter aircraft.

Reiterating an invitation, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif invited President Erdogan to visit Pakistan. He highlighted the anticipation of the Pakistani people for this visit, recognizing it as an opportunity for extensive consultations during the 7th session of the High-Level Strategic Coordination Council between the two countries.
