Sindh Government Records Impressive 43% Rise in GST Collection on Services

The Sindh government witnessed a significant surge in Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection on services, reaching Rs48.298 billion in the first quarter of the current fiscal year (July-September 2023-24). This marks a substantial 43% increase compared to the Rs33.665 billion recorded during the same period in the previous fiscal year (July-September 2022-23).

Sindh province dominated the overall provincial sales tax on services (GST) collection, contributing Rs48.298 billion out of the total Rs106.279 billion. In comparison, Punjab province followed closely with Rs47.028 billion, while Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa reported Rs6.819 billion, and Balochistan recorded Rs4.134 billion.

Analyzing the first quarter of the ongoing fiscal year reveals notable trends. The Punjab government demonstrated an 11.40% increase in sales tax on services (GST) collection, rising from Rs42.215 billion to Rs47.028 billion. Similarly, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa experienced a 5.39% growth, with the collection increasing from Rs6.470 billion to Rs6.819 billion.

Balochistan province showcased a remarkable 38% surge in sales tax on services (GST) collection. The figures rose from Rs2.992 billion in the first quarter of the last fiscal year to Rs4.134 billion during the same period in the current fiscal year (July-September 2023-24).

This robust performance in GST collection reflects positively on the economic landscape, indicating growth and stability in the respective provinces.
