In a shocking development, Qayyum Shahid, the son of prominent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and private hospital owner Dr. Shahid Siddique, has confessed to orchestrating his father’s murder. The revelation came during a police interrogation, revealing a complex web of personal and financial motives behind the tragic incident.

According to police sources, Qayyum Shahid admitted to hiring a gunman to kill his father. The motive, as disclosed by Qayyum, was rooted in personal and financial grievances. He reportedly wanted his father dead because Dr. Shahid had opposed his wish to marry a girl and had refused to provide him with money.

In a further twist, Qayyum Shahid confessed that the murder was not a spontaneous decision but part of a premeditated plan. He had previously attempted to kill his father eight months ago in Chohang, using a hired shooter for which he had paid Rs 5 million. Qayyum revealed that half of the payment had already been made to the shooter, with the remaining amount to be settled after the job was completed.

On the day of the murder, Dr. Shahid Siddique was at Khizra Mosque in H-Block of Valencia Town for prayers. Following the prayer session, as he was heading towards his car, an unidentified man approached him and opened fire. Dr. Siddique sustained four bullet injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, he did not survive the attack.

The suspect fled the scene on foot, and the initial response involved a large-scale police operation. The police registered a case against four unidentified attackers and initiated a thorough investigation. They have since recorded statements from family members, gathered eyewitness accounts, and reviewed CCTV footage from nearby areas to piece together the details of the crime.

The investigation revealed additional layers to the case, particularly regarding family dynamics. Qayyum Shahid, who had initially presented himself as a grieving son, was later found to have led his father’s funeral prayers. This fact added a layer of complexity and deception to the case, intensifying the scrutiny of his role in the murder.

The police have now charged Qayyum Shahid with his father’s murder. His confession has led to his arrest, and he is facing legal consequences for his involvement in the crime. The case has garnered significant media attention due to the high-profile nature of the victim and the shocking nature of the confession.

Dr. Shahid Siddique was a well-known figure in Lahore, having served as the chairman of Lahore Transport Company during the PTI government. His contributions to public service and his role in the health sector made him a prominent and respected individual. The nature of his murder and the subsequent revelations have stirred public interest and concern.

Initial investigations also suggest that there may have been a property dispute involving Dr. Siddique. Reports indicate that the victim had ongoing issues related to a laboratory in Multan, which could have further fueled the conflict. The financial disagreements and personal conflicts within the family appear to have played a significant role in the lead-up to the murder.
