UK Delegation Led by Chief Economist Calls on Pakistan’s Finance Minister

Chief Economist and Director for Economics and Evaluation Directorate in the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), Professor Adnan Qadir Khan, accompanied by British High Commissioner to Pakistan, H.E. Ms. Jane Marriot CMG OBE, paid a visit to Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb.

The Finance Minister warmly welcomed both guests and underscored the government’s relentless efforts towards economic stabilization. He highlighted notable achievements such as bolstered forex reserves, a stable currency, declining inflation rates, and a thriving stock market. Furthermore, he delineated key reform initiatives including privatization, restructuring of state-owned enterprises (SOEs), digitization of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), export-focused growth strategies, and reforms in the energy sector. Emphasizing the importance of KPI-based projects for effective implementation, he underscored the significance of UK government support in enhancing the impact of these endeavors.

Professor Adnan Qadir Khan apprised the Minister of FCDO’s successful completion of several pivotal initiatives and its continued support for domestically driven reform programs aimed at fostering sustainable economic growth in Pakistan.

H.E. Ms. Jane Marriot reiterated the British government’s unwavering commitment to supporting Pakistan’s socio-economic development initiatives. She expressed confidence in the potential for deeper collaboration between the two nations in the future.
