US Ambassador Blome and Finance Minister Aurangzeb Discuss Collaboration for Pakistan’s Reform Targets

US Ambassador Donald Blome held a meeting on Tuesday with Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb to explore further cooperation and support for Pakistan’s reform targets. The discussions, as per the statement from the Embassy of the United States of America, revolved around enhancing the nation’s tax administration and investment climate, which are crucial priorities for Pakistan.

Ambassador Blome reiterated the United States’ unwavering support for Pakistan’s collaboration with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to successfully conclude its current Stand-By Arrangement (SBA). Additionally, Blome expressed his commitment to expanding economic collaboration between the United States and Pakistan in areas of mutual interest.

Prior to this meeting, President Asif Ali Zardari and Ambassador Blome held discussions on various bilateral issues, including US support for ongoing economic reforms, human rights, and regional security. Blome underscored the significance of shared interests between the two countries and highlighted opportunities to advance common goals through high-level dialogues and the Green Alliance framework.

Furthermore, Blome engaged in a pivotal meeting with Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Monday, reiterating US support for economic reforms in Pakistan.

Last week, the US ambassador and Prime Minister Shehbaz also convened to explore avenues for collaboration in accelerating projects addressing climate change under the US-Pakistan Green Alliance framework.
