The United States has indicated the possibility of military action against Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) inside Afghanistan, aiming to address regional security threats in coordination with Islamabad.

During separate briefings at the Pentagon and in Washington, US officials discussed plans to bolster Pakistan’s military capabilities. Pentagon spokesman Major-General Patrick Ryder emphasized that any airstrikes against TTP in Afghanistan would be Pakistan’s sovereign decision concerning national security issues.

“We have a longstanding security cooperation with Pakistan. Our discussions focus on counterterrorism efforts and preventing regional terrorism,” Ryder stated, declining to comment on Pakistan’s internal decisions or potential future operations.

Meanwhile, State Department spokesman Matthew Miller condemned human rights violations in Afghanistan, particularly regarding women’s rights and moral policing by the Taliban. He reiterated that the US does not support or fund the Taliban, underscoring their monitoring of Taliban actions and expectations regarding international standards.

Regarding Pakistan, Miller acknowledged the country’s sacrifices in combating terrorism and affirmed ongoing talks to enhance the military capabilities of the Pakistan Army.

The situation comes amid international scrutiny, including a UN report highlighting human rights abuses in Afghanistan, prompting global concern over Taliban governance and its implications for regional stability.
