In a recent press briefing held in Washington, Matthew Miller, a spokesperson for the US government, addressed a range of topics, including the ongoing cipher case involving former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan. Miller reiterated the US stance on the matter, stating that they have consistently provided clarification on the issue.

When questioned about the US position on Imran Khan’s cipher case, Miller replied, “We have answered questions about the PTI founder many times.” He emphasized that the US priority lies in assisting Pakistan in overcoming its energy crisis, which has been a long-standing challenge for the country. Miller asserted, “Helping Pakistan overcome the energy crisis is a priority for America.”

The spokesperson also addressed concerns about the US potentially influencing the decisions of Pakistani courts. Miller clarified that the US respects the independence of Pakistan’s judiciary, stating, “We cannot influence the decisions of Pakistani courts, and the Pakistani courts will make decisions based on their laws.” This statement aims to alleviate concerns about external interference in Pakistan’s legal proceedings.

Miller further explained that the US considers the unique circumstances and context of each country when making decisions. This approach ensures that the US engages in diplomatic efforts that are tailored to the specific needs and challenges of each nation.
