WHO Delegation Meets Chairman FBR to Discuss Tobacco Taxation and Track & Trace System

The World Health Organization (WHO), comprising Mr. Roberto Iglesias, Consultant, and Mr. Santiago Carrillo, an expert on Track & Trace, visited the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Headquarters in Islamabad today to meet with Chairman Malik Amjed Zubair Tiwana. Also present at the meeting was Member IR (Operations) Mir Badshah Khan Wazir.

The discussion primarily focused on matters related to tobacco taxation, with particular emphasis on addressing operational challenges in the implementation and enforcement of the Track and Trace System within the tobacco sector. The aim is to combat the illicit trade of tobacco products effectively.

This meeting underscores the collaborative efforts between WHO and FBR to tackle issues related to tobacco taxation and strengthen measures to eliminate illicit trade practices. It highlights the importance of effective enforcement mechanisms to ensure compliance with tobacco regulations and enhance revenue collection in the sector.
